As you can see, I like Atlanta skyscrapers and I have a special page dedicated to just them. I would like to tell you where I get my information about Atlanta's buildings. The book is called the AIA Guide to the Architecture of Atlanta and is a book that any Atlanta building enthusiast must have. I treasure this book and I thought it would be helpful if I were to pass this information on to you.

Skyscraper Quotes
Taken from the book "Skyscrapers", by Judith Dupré
To build well is an act of peace.
-Kevin Roche, Pritzker Prize acceptance address, 1982
As the twentieth century fades, North America is ceding skyscraper supremacy to Asia.
-Emily Mitchell, Time Magazine, 1994
Buildings are often loved or hated purely on the basis of their looks, and despite all the sophisticated technical input that goes into their realization, without some spiritual interaction between the structure and its city and people, it can only be regarded as a failure.
-Hijas Kasturi, The Intelligence of Menara Maybank: A Case Study, 1988
Have Fun, always try to get fun in.
-Philip Johnson, Philip Johnson: The Architect in His Own Words, 1994
It is a painful fact of our time that buildings seem increasingly to resemble each other no matter where they are built, and that means cities increasingly resemble each other, too.
-Paul Goldberger, introduction to Caroline Mierop's Skyscrapers Higher and Higher, 1995
We were getting bored with the box.
-Philip Johnson, Philip Johnson: The Architect in His Own Words, 1994
I hope that you will understand that architecture has nothing to do with the invention of forms. It is not a playground for children young or old. Architecture is the real battleground of the spirit.
-Mies van der Rohe, 1951
Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for?
-Robert Browning, Andrea del Sarto, 1855
There were banks pretending to be temples, skyscrapers pretending to be cathedrals, and Madison Square office buildings pretending to be Venetian campaniles-and all were getting gold medals for the pretense.
-Hugh Ferriss, Power In Building, 1953
We are building to a height to rival the Tower of Babel.
-William Le Baron Jenney, 1883
What monuments we leave behind in the form of buildings reveal more clearly than anything the value we place on the quality of life.
-Hugh Stubbins, Architecture: The Design Experience, 1976
I strive for structural simplicity... The technical man mustn't be lost in his own technology.
-Fazlur Khan, MIMAR, 1982
The tall building ought to participate in the city as both a facade, connecting the walls of the street, and as an object against the sky.
-William Pedersen, Process Architecture, 1986
[Our] philosophy is rooted in a design approach that responds to site, climate, and client program within a context of technological sophistication and belief in the future. While we respect and learn from the past, we do not try to reproduce it..
-Hugh Stubbins, Architecture: The Design Experience, 1976
Specific Building Sites
There are sites on the world wide web that are dedicated purely to one building. These sites are usually run by the real estate developers of this building. The first building is in Atlanta. It is 60 stories high and was designed by John Portman. This building is called SunTrust Plaza. The second building is also in Atlanta but was designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee. It is 50 stories high and is called One Atlantic Center. To Atlantans, it is known as the IBM tower. The third building is nowhere near Atlanta. Infact, it is located in Tel Aviv, Israel. This building is one of many being built in this complex which will include the largest mall in the Middle East. This building is called the Azrieli Center. The fourth buiding will also be located in Tel Aviv. Once built, it will be the tallest building in Israel. This building will be called City Gate Ramat Gan. Another specific building site is that of a new high rise in San Francisco. It will be completed in the year 2000. It is called 199 Fremont. Here are two more new specific skyscraper/building sites. The first site is that of a new skyscraper being built in Toronto, Canada. Construction should commence in the fall of this year on the Bay Adelaide Center. The second site is of a building that will be a holder of a fantastic record. When built, 5 King West will be the thinnest skyscraper in the world. Feel free to E-Mail me if you know of specific skyscraper sites.
Some changes will soon come to SAAM!!! Wait and see and experience the dawn of a new skyscraper empire! It has been a year since this page started and
